September 9, 1941 - February 16, 2025

Mary Carolyn (Crews) Goldsberry, 83, of Ponca City, OK, died on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Viewing will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February, 27, 2025, at First Baptist Church with a funeral ceremony following at 12:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Carolyn was born on Tuesday, September 9, 1941, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Albert L Crews , and Mary Ella (Hutson) Crews. Carolyn attended Messick High School in Memphis, graduating in 1959. In May 1976, Carolyn graduated from Memphis State University with a BS in Accounting, and began her employment at Conoco Oil Company almost immediately thereafter. In 1982, she married William David Goldsberry (Bill). It was a profoundly loving relationship until Bill passed in 2021. They were active members of First Baptist Church in Ponca City and had deep faith in Christ.

Carolyn and Bill were nationally known cultivators of Irises and hemerocallis (day lilies), and were award winners and were designated as a national show garden with tour buses visiting their gardens to view their beautiful landscape. Carolyn also served as the President of The National Iris Society. Carolyn and Bill were also deeply involved, hands-on in the renovation of the Poncan Theater. She was an avid quilter, creating many wonderful quilts through the years. She also enjoyed many other hobbies through the years, including throwing pottery, fabricating sterling jewelry, and cross stitching. Carolyn was a voracious reader having read thousands of book throughout her life. Although she was born and raised in Tennessee, Carolyn was proud to call herself a true Oklahoman, and will be missed greatly for her contributions to the culture and history of Ponca City.

Carolyn had two sons from a previous marriage; David L Marstellar, Jr. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who survives her, and James A Marstellar, who sadly passed away at a young age in 2003. Carolyn is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Moore of Bradenton, Florida, and Cathryn Vincel of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by numerous cousins and nieces and nephews spread across the United States.
