March 16, 1929 - May 28, 2025
John Raymond Cox, died peacefully early Wednesday, May 28th at home. He was 96. The funeral service will be Monday, June 2, 10:00 am at the Agape Church of Christ with Mr. Don Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Born March 16, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Leroy and Lucille Hanes Cox, and attended Wichita public schools. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, joining at the age of 17. He worked for the Wichita Eagle newspaper and Boeing Corporation. He moved to Ponca City and married Barbara H. Walters on Jan 14, 1956, in Ponca City. They were happily married for 53 years and together they owned and operated Cox Electric for 39 years. In November of 2011 he married Lynda Northrup and enjoyed 13 years together.
John enjoyed projects of all kinds around the house, for family and friends, and for the Church of Christ at Hartford Ave. where he was a member for over 60 years.
He is survived by his wife Lynda of the home, daughter Johnna Ikehorn of Wichita KS, son Daryl Cox and wife Trisha of Dallas, TX, sister, Cheryl Hines, Flower Mound, TX.. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents, son, Dan Andrade, son-in-law, Randy Ikehorn, brother, Bob Cox, and sister Bettie Underwood.
