November 29, 1931 - May 5, 2025
Velva Arends Rence, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 93. A private graveside service will be held at Prairie View Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home in Tonkawa, OK. A Celebration of Life gathering is pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
Velva was born on November 29, 1931, to John Arends and Gertrude Tammen Arends in Anthony, Kansas. She married David A. Rence on December 25, 1956, and together they welcomed two daughters: Amy and Marianne.
She thoroughly enjoyed time with her family and friends and cherished her Christian faith. She delighted in supporting community events and philanthropic endeavors. Some of her favorites included the Centennial Park and Heart in the Park projects in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
Velva was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and her sisters, Margaret Lutes, Lucille Tingley, Josephine Arends and Ruth Casper. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Foss and husband, Jeff; her grandchild, Elise Foss; her daughter, Marianne Gutierrez and husband, Marco, along with an abundance of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tonkawa Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1, Tonkawa, OK 74653, or to the Tonkawa First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School Fund, P.O. Box 426, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
