Cheryl Dee Brown Waters, Mi-tha, was born on February 28, 1984 in Santa Fe, NM to Lamont II and Mary Brown. Cheryl’s paternal grandparents were Eugene and Mava Brown, and maternal grandparents Clyde and Della Warrior. Cheryl was a descendant of the Waxe Hebe Clan of the Ponca Nation.

Cheryl spent her first eighteen years of her life in Santa Fe, NM and Stillwater, OK where she attended schools. Cheryl was baptized at the age of 12 at the Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK.

Cheryl was the first Princess for the Giveswater Service Club for the years 1997-1998 and she was 2000-2001 Ponca Tribal Princess. Cheryl loved to dance in southern cloth tradition and competed in and won several competitions. Cheryl was also a lady singer at the drum.

She is survived by her spouse, James Waters of the home, father Lamont Brown, II, brother Odi Brown, sisters Rosemary, Katie, and Andellaka Brown, all of Ponca City, OK, grandmother Della Warrior, children Stephen Dee Coriz, Della India Ju-Thee Coriz, Jay Mee and Tululah Waters.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Brown brother Lamont Brown III, and grandfather Clyde Warrior.

Traditional tribal services will be held at the Ponca Cultural Center beginning with a noon feast on Friday, October 9, 2020. Minister Barbara Terrell of the Mt. Olive Church will officiate, assisted by Reverend Louis Headman.
