December 31, 1981 ~ August 11, 2021

John Michael Ralph Pewewardy, age 39, peacefully passed away on August 11, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. He was born on December 31, 1981 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX to Michael and Ava Pewewardy.

John Michael attended Irving High School where he enjoyed playing football as a linebacker. Known for his big stature and even bigger heart, he was hesitant to tackle his teammates and would be seen helping them up and apologizing after tackling them. John Michael was also a naturally gifted artist. He enjoyed drawing and would often draw elaborate sketches for his nieces and nephews. Like his father, John was known for his outgoing personality and it was normal to see him finding the light during the dark moments of life by making everyone that crossed his path laugh. John Michael will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

John Michael is preceded in death by his father, Michael. He is survived by his mother, Ava, sisters Taryn Salinas of Dallas, TX, Shannon Pewewardy-Overland of Grand Prairie, TX, and Larena Leclair of Marshalltown, Iowa, and his twelve nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Ponca Indian Tribal Cemetery
