Loretta Lynne Pappan, resident of Ponca City, passed Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa. She was 47 years of age.

Loretta was born May 4, 1963 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Francis Buster Pappan and Lowellia Wakolee Pappan. She was a member of the SacNFox Tribe and Ponca Tribe. She received her education in the Chilocco Indian School and earned her certified nurses aid certificate from Pioneer VoTech in Ponca City. Loretta was employed as a CNA at Highland Nursing Home, Shawn Manor Nursing Home and Ponca City Nursing Home.

Her enjoyments were reading her Bible, other books, spending time with her grandchildren, watching movies and crocheting.

She is survived by her 8 children, Amber Kay Stewart, Jeremiah LeClair, Myrna LeClair, Cricket Rhodd, Virginia Rhodd, Vonnie Rhodd, and twins Jymme and Barry Jackson 15 grandchildren 3 brothers, Wendell Pappan, Jeffrey Pappan and Clifton Chip Pappan. She was preceded in death by her parents husband, Richard LeClair 2 brothers, Steve and Gabe Pappan and one sister, Mary Lou Rhodd.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church. A noon meal will be served on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Ponca Indian Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor C.W. Springwater will preside over the service. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
