January 19, 1939 ~ September 28, 2020

Tony Hugh Cerre passed away Monday. September 28, 2020, at his home in Ponca City, OK with his family by his side at the age of 81. Tony came into this world in Pawnee, OK on January 19, 1939 to his proud parents, Mitchell and Dora (Fireshaker) Cerre.

Tony spent his youth in the Ponca City area before moving to Albuquerque, NM. It was here that he graduated from the Nazarene Bible School. While taking his courses he met his future bride, Roselee. Together they would be blessed with three children; Vinola, James and John.

Tony is fondly remembered for his singing voice. He loved to sing, and everyone loved to hear him sing. Tony even had to chance to sing with Glenn Campbell. During his school years he was a member of a traveling quartet. He as also an exceptional golfer, winning many a trophy with his skill.

Anyone that met Tony got to know Tony. The word stranger wasn’t in his vocabulary because he never met one. He was able to strike a conversation with anyone and everyone. Within five minutes of meeting it was guaranteed that you would either know his life story, or he’d know a portion of yours. He had that caring generous good nature that allowed him to make friends easily. Tony also loved to joke around and be humorous. He enjoyed making others smile and laugh.

Left to cherish Tony’s memory are his children; Vinola and her husband Camilo Garcia, James Cerre and John Cerre, former wife; Roselee Cerre, grandchildren; Marissa Garcia, Deanna McGarvin, and Matthew Cere, three great-grandchildren, and brother Millard Cerre. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Harriett Scrofani, Vinola Rosborough, Julie Noear, Ben Cerre and Pascal Cerre.

There will be a time for viewing Tony through the window of Grace Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 11am to 1pm. The procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 to take Tony to his final resting place, Ponca Indian Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held with Pastor Jimmy White presiding. Pallbearers will be James Cerre, John Cerre, Camilo Garcia, Robert Rosborough, Raymond Cerre and Joseph Scrofani.
