Marion Ella Cerre

Marion Ella Cerre, longtime resident of the White Eagle community, passed Thursday, June 20, 2013 at her home. She was 91 years of age. 

Marion was born August 11, 1921 at White Eagle, the daughter of Daniel McDugan and Alfreida (Others) McDugan. She attended schools at White Eagle and Carlisle. Until just recently she was a very active member of the Ponca Indian Nazarene Church. She also was a member of the Ponca Scout Dance Society. Marion was a very loving person who would take anyone in and never turn anyone away. She had a very caring heart, always helping and praying for others. Her enjoyments included her grandchildren, bead work, making quilts, handy work and attending tribal dances. 

She is survived by her five children, Sharon Bianco of Oklahoma City, Marvina Cerre of White Eagle, Bobbie Jean Banks and husband Dennis, of Tucson, Arizona, Debbie Cerre of Woodward, Oklahoma and Pam Cerre of Stillwater; one sister, Molly Walkingsky of White Eagle; numerous grandchildren that include Virgil Knoxsah and wife, Desire’, Gary Webster, Wendell Charles Rogers and Hannah Cerre. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Lynn Cerre, Phillip Cerre and Marvin Cerre Jr.; and one daughter, Lillian Cerre. 

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 and Saturday, June 22 at the Ponca Indian Nazarene Church. A noon meal will be served on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Cultural Center followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Ponca Indian Nazarene Church. The Rev. Louis V. Headman will preside over the service. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. 

Casket bearers will be David Eagle, Doug Eagle Jr., Farrell Jones, Clifford Walkingsky Jr., Craig Primeaux, Marcus Eagle, Kevin Kimbel Jr. and Earl Howe III. Honorary casket bearers will be McKinley Eagle, Lang Camp, Eddie Rhodd II, Kennis Rhodd, Virgil Knoxsah, Gary Webster and Wendell Rogers.
