Arneva Eloise Bowhay, Ponca City resident, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 74 years old.

Arneva was born on September 16, 1935 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Parrish Williams and Eunice Cries For Ribs Williams. Arneva grew up in the Bressie Community. She married George Arthur Bowhay in 1953 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse and later worked building maintenance at Conoco. Arneva enjoyed watching old westerns, crocheting, reading and going to the rodeo. She also liked to go for rides in the car but her main enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Rick Bowhay and wife, Jean, Pearl Canaday and husband, Gary, Patty Gallagher, Buster Bowhay and wife, Cheryl and David Bowhay brothers, Curtis Williams and wife, Evona, Zach Williams and wife, Cathy and Jimmy Williams sisters, Maxine and Butch Thompson, Beverly Williams, Beulah and husband, Ron Sherron and Resa and husband, John McKnight 13 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Parrish and Eunice Williams husband, George son, Don Bowhay brothers, Page Vernon, Page Arthur, Perry Alex and Rudolph and grandson, Aaron Foster Gallagher.

Casket bearers will be Casey Richards, David Isaac Gallagher, Don Bowhay, Tyler Gallagher, Jonathan Bowhay and Brandon Bowhay. Honorary casket bearers will be her nephews.

A traditional noon feast will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Ponca Indian Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00p.m.. Brother Jimmy White will officiate. Burial will be at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
