June 29, 1973 ~ March 13, 2023 (age 49)

Steven Doyle Gomez, Sr., resident of Ponca City passed away the morning of March 13, 2023, at Integris Baptist Center in Oklahoma City. He was 48 years young, born June 29, 1973, to Manuel Gomez and Coralie Collins Buffalohead. Steven was raised in Ponca City, OK. He is a member of the Wa'xe'hebe' Clan.

He attended Ponca City Schools and enjoyed playing sports in his younger age. A self-taught mechanic he was always working on something. Also, he was one of the drum makers of the Ponca Tribe. He comes from a family that was best known as the drum makers of the Ponca Tribe. Back in the 2000's, he and his little brother Keith made a 40" drum for the Smithsonian Institute.

Evening services will be Wednesday, 7:30 pm at the Ponca Methodist Church in White Eagle, OK. Thursday dinner will be served at 12:00 pm with funeral service to follow. Resting place will be at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Roberta Martin of 28 years together. Mother Coralie Collins Buffalohead. Sisters Patricia Gomez Lieb, Sharyl Buffalohead, Brothers Wayne Gomez, Michael Snake, Keith Buffalohead Jr., Children Ryan Gomez, Sage Gomez, Steven Jr., Sylvia, Ruslen Gomez. Many nephews and nieces. He loved his Grandchildren Rylee Pewo and Rian Harris.

Steven was preceded by death by his father Manuel Gomez, paternal grandparents Joe and Bennie Mae Leal Gomez, maternal grandparents Melvin Collins Sr., and Jennie LeClair Collins.

Pall bearers will be William Arkeketa, Ruslen Gomez, Max'pi xu de "Graycloud" Lieb, Wayne Gomez, Michael Snake, William Qualo.

Honorary Pall bearers: Keith Buffalohead Jr., Sage Gomez, Steven Gomez Jr., Wesley Collins, INg ThuN/HutoN "Thunder" Lieb, Nathaniel Buffalohead, Na'Nzhi "Rain" Nestell, Max'pi "Cloud" Nestell.

Steven will be remembered for his compassion, empathy and giving heart, rest in peace brother. Wi'btha'ha.
