Pearl E. Vickers, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 in Ponca City. She was 91 years of age.

Pearl was born March 28, 1920 at Willow Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Bruce Malcom and Zephae Mae Keeler Malcom. She was a 1938 graduate of Ponca City High School. She was married to Joe Vernon Vickers on December 25, 1938 in Ponca City. The couple had been married nearly 62 years at Mr. Vickers passing.

Pearl had worked as a telephone operator for several years in both Ponca City and Amarillo, Texas. Her enjoyments were vacationing in California and her family. She was a homemaker and grandmother deluxe and also known for her extraordinary baking and cooking skills.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Taylor and husband, Dr. James Gary Taylor, of Ponca City one son, Larry G. Vickers and wife, Patty, of Benbrook, Texas 3 grandchildren, Carol Vickers of Portland, Oregon, Ryan Taylor and wife, Mandy, of Tulsa, and Robb Taylor of Perkins, Oklahoma 3 greatgrandchildren, Brennyn, Sydney and Jenae Taylor of Stillwater, Oklahoma one sister, Veda Bristow of Houston, Texas 2 nieces, Janet Patton of Houston, Texas and Nancy Siler and husband, Jim, of Blackwell, Oklahoma 4 nephews, Mike Stratton and wife, Cindy, of Wichita, Kansas, Bart Henderson and wife, Linda, of Houston, Texas, Sean Grigsba and wife, Juli, of Ponca City, and Joe Bristow and wife, Gail, of Atlanta, Georgia 2 sistersinlaw, Linda Powelson of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Dorothy Henderson and husband, Bart, of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Zephae Malcom and her husband Joe V. Vickers, on October 24, 2000

A special appreciation and thank you goes out to Kelli Glaser and all the caregivers who helped with Mrs. Vickers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Montgomery presiding. Interment will follow in the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
