Mrs. Betty Jean Burns Smith passed from this life on September 2, 2012 in Ponca City, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years.

Betty was born August 2, 1932 to her parents Lawrence and Ara Sea Bloxsom in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Betty was a nurse aid for St. Joseph Medical Center and Ponca City Nursing and Rehab for many years. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has devoted her life to being a wonderful and supportive care giver to all who knew her.

Although Betty is no longer with us, her memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends she leaves behind which include: 1 daughter: Vicky and husband Mike Owens of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 2 sons: Ricky and wife Cindy of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Larry and wife Carolyn of Eufaula, Oklahoma, soninlaw: Larry Griffin, 2 sisters: Ruth Golay of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Helen Colvin of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 1 brother: Johnny Bloxsom of California, grandchildren: Richard Owens, Don and wife Rhonda Owens, Lance and wife Amy Owens, Justin and wife Amanda Burns, Cortney Burns, Stefanie Burns, Casandra Burns, Tammy Place, Chasity and husband Chuck Price, great grandchildren: Tara, Kali, Trevor, Nathan, Elayna Owens, Jesse, Justin, Christopher Burns, Casey and Rachel Price, Brycen Burns, Alexis and Paige Sosa, 1 great great grand daughter: Carlee Clinton.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, first husband: Leonard Burns in November of 1972, second husband: Roy Smith in November of 1992, 1 daughter: Linda Griffin, 1 infant son: Gary Burns, 3 sisters: Lucille, Margaret, and Ruby, 7 brothers: Grover, Lawrence, Joe, Homer, Bobby, Leu and Billy Bloxom, 2 grandchildren: Larry and Laci Griffin.

A Memorial service in the Hope Chapel at IOOF Cemetery will be held Monday September 10, 2012, at 2:00 PM with Hospice Chaplin Tom Howard officiating.
