Vera Elizabeth Sherbon, born on December 7, 1933, in Arkansas, peacefully passed away on March 7, 2026, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was a remarkable woman known for her feistiness, generosity, and kindness. For many, Vera was a second mother, offering love and support to those who crossed her path.
Vera dedicated her career to childcare, having specialized in this field at Votech. Her profound commitment to nurturing children extended beyond her professional life; she also shared her passion for teaching by serving as a Sunday school teacher. Vera not only helped shape young lives but also imparted the invaluable lessons of kindness, patience, and compassion.
A proud graduate of Ponca City High School, Vera cherished the importance of education and the joy of learning. Her wisdom was evident in her philosophy of life, encouraging others to slow down and take time to appreciate the beauty of God's creations, along with the company of friends and family.
Throughout her life, Vera embraced a variety of interests, with reading and football being among her favorites. She fostered a love for stories and playful competition, bringing joy to her family and friends.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Terri Sherbon, and her grandson, Cameron Sherbon, who is married to Hannah and resides in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She leaves behind numerous family members and friends who will honor her memory and carry forward her spirit of love and kindness.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bob Sherbon, and her parents, Ralph Mayo and Mollie (Barber) Mayo. Vera has requested that her family services remain private. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
