January 19, 1935 - December 13, 2025

Helen Joan Shelton, of Broken Arrow, OK, left us on Saturday, December 13, 2025. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Joan was born on Saturday, January 19, 1935, in Ponca City, OK, to William Thomas and Helen Francis (Shiflet) Bozarth. She received a Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma and worked as a Librarian for the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System until her retirement. She married Joe Shelton on December 30, 1959. Joan was very passionate about books and had a large collection, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and was a talented artist who loved painting and sculpting. She loved collecting antique dolls and created a few of her own. She loved talking about her travels and her beloved pets.

Joan is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Holleyman; nieces, Ruth Biggs and her husband, Jason; Sherry Holleyman, Cheryl Stewart and husband, Edward Sr.; nephew, Larry Holleyman and wife, Connie; cousins, Katherine Shinn and John E Shiflet, and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother William Bozarth Jr., and brother-in-law, Richard Holleyman.
