February 29, 1940 - October 28, 2019

George William Pepple, Ph.D, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019. He was 79 years old. A funeral ceremony for George will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Following the ceremony he will be laid to rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Casket bearers will be: Ronnie Hunt, Clyde Otipoby, Paul Fusselman, Gary Johnson, Jakob Fusselman, and Paul Mullon. Friends and family are welcome to pay their last respects at Trout Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3rd from 1-8 pm with family present from 3:30-5:30 pm.

George was born on February 29, 1940 in Lodi, California to George Milton and Evelyn May Pepple. He graduated high school in Fessenden, North Dakota in 1958 and continued his education at the University of North Dakota graduating in 1962. George earned his Ph.D from Iowa State in 1967. He worked for Conoco in plant foods from 1967 to 1970. George married the love of his life, Lois Harman in 1970. They moved to Morenci, Arizona where George worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. from 1970 to 1978. George's family moved to Ponca City where they owned and operated a gem and jewelry store for 15 years. In addition to the jewelry store, George went to work for OG&E where he eventually retired.

After retirement, George enjoyed gardening, watching the deer and birds in his backyard, and being outdoors. As a chemist, he also enjoyed making his own beer and wine and being able to taste his own experiments.

George will be missed by his wife, Lois Pepple, son, Karl David Pepple and wife, Kathryn, granddaughter, Vivian Pepple, sister, Gretchen and husband Jon Bertsch, nephews, Hunter and Nikki Fusselman and their son, Fisher, Jakob and Kelsey Fusselman, Jonthan Rice, Benjiman Bertsch, and Andrew Rice, nieces, Heather and husband Paul Fusselman, Jessica and husband Charles Mason-Hill, and Bailey and Jacob Gonser, great-nephew, Ted Fusselman, sister-in-law, Janet Buttler, good friends, Paul and Cada Mullon, Clyde and Patty Otipoby, and Gary and Linda Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn, sister, Ann Marie Pepple, nephew, Christopher Rice and in-laws, Ted and Gladys Harman.
