Marjorie Faye McCurry, Ponca City resident, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. She was 99 years old.

Marjorie was born the daughter of Tobe Patterson and Talitha Belle Stillwell Patterson in Tyrola, Oklahoma in Pontotac County. She attended Ada Schools and was married to Clarence Charles McCurry on May 27, 1927 in Ada. The couple made their home in Ponca City in 1929 and lived in Pleasant View from 1934 to 1942. In 1942 they moved South of Ponca City.

Marjorie had several enjoyments which included gardening, sewing, ceramics, needlepoint, animals, and making delicious fried apricot pies. She enjoyed quilting and it was a major interest of hers until she reached the age of 98. Marjorie loved playing bingo at the McCord Senior Center where she was known as Grandma. She loved being with family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Pioneer Christian Church for several years. Marjorie will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gates of Ponca City, Oklahoma son, Larry Neal McCurry and wife, Paula of Plano, Texas grandchildren, Micalene Kay McCurry of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Edward Earl McCurry and wife, Julie of Ft. Worth, Texas, Stephen William McCurry and wife, Brenda of Austin, Texas, Shawn Gray McCurry and wife, Brenda of Maine, Vaughn Charles McCurry of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Barbara McCurry of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brian Neal Gates and wife, Susan of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Gwendolyn Sue Gates and husband, Randall Peterson of Austin, Texas, Shellene Renee Turnipseed and husband, John of Marland, Oklahoma, Tracey Lynn Gates of Jenks, Oklahoma, Laurie Dee Hutchison of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kimberly Dawn McCurry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nicola Dionn and husband, Michael Foutch of Liberty, Tennessee and Jonathan Charles McCurry of Dallas, Texas great grandchildren, Fred Marchese, Chris Marchese, Tobias McCurry, Shawn McCurry, Clarissa McCurry, Stephanie McCurry, Ryan McCurry, Jessica McCurry, Matthew McCurry, Brian Hutchison, Timothy Hutchison, Taylor Foutch, Jesse Foutch and Thomas Foutch greatgreat grandchildren, Caleb McCurry, Payton McCurry, Christa Kay Marchese and Christian Marchese.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Charles McCurry parents sons, Clarence Edward McCurry and Jerry Wilburn infant daughter, Norma Jean three brothers and three sisters.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Lyon officiating.
