Barbara J. May, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her home in the Osage. She was 68 years of age.

Barbara was born November 3, 1943 in Washburn, Maine, the daughter of Loren White Sr. and Wilma Arlene Belmain White. She received her early education in the Caribou, Maine Schools. She was married to Thomas Nick May on May 2, 1964 in Caribou, Maine where the couple established their first home. She was employed with the Birdseye General Foods in Maine prior to the couple moving to Ponca City.

Barbara was employed in Ponca City for 30 years with Titus Manufacturing and ASC, retiring in 2004. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, flowers, gardening, baking and had a special love for clocks and light houses.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Sober and husband, Roger, of Ponca City one brother, Loren White Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Holden, Maine two grandchildren, Breia Willaford and husband, William and Taren Sober and close friend, Tiffany Strawn two great grandchildren, Haylee and Madison Willaford. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Nick, on March 23, 1995.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in the Hope Chapel of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Mark Berry, associate minister of Eastern Heights Christian Church presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
