Harmon R. Kidder Obit

Dr. Harmon R. Kidder, 88, a Ponca City Veterinarian since 1908, died Thursday evening in the Ponca City Hospital.
He was born on July 24, 1877, in Warren PA., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathanial Kidder. He attended the Warren Schools and then worked for the state hospital there caring for the livestock. Later he went to Toronto College, Toronto, Canada, where he graduated with a degree in veterinary science
Dr. Kidder Practiced for a few years ion Wheeling, W. VA., before coming to Ponca City. He remained active in his profession until late in 1964. He was employed by the City of Ponca city of 33 years, serving as health inspector working with the police department and also in the sanitation department.
For a number of years he was meat inspector for Daack Packing Company and later for the Braden Packing Co.
For six years, Dr. Kidder was on the state veterinarian examing board. He held a life membership in the American Veterinarian Association.
He belonged to the First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, was a Knight Templar and a member of the Woodman Lodge.
Dr. Kidder married Amanda Muchow on March 18, 1911 at Newkirk and they established their home in Ponca City.
Surviving him are his wife of the home, 603 South Fourth, two sons, Lyal of Derby, Kansas, and G.H. Kidder of Wichita; four grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Ann Artz of Los Angeles, Frank Kidder of Boulder and Jack Russell Kidder of Denver, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jerold R. McBride, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
