Mrs. M. H. Karns' Services Pending

The body of Mrs. M. H. Karns, 329 South Lake St., will be returned to Ponca City for funeral services and burial. Arrangements are pending at E. M. Trout and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Karns was killed Wednesday in a two – car collision 10 miles north of Ottawa, Kansas, on that US Highway 50 south. James Kratoska of Wichita, driver of the other auto, also was killed.

Karns was reported to be improving Friday though his condition is still serious. Doctors stated that he had no internal injuries and they plan to take additional x-rays Friday. Doctors expected Karns to be able to return to Ponca City this weekend by ambulance. He will be accompanied home by his daughter, Emily, 16, who Friday was reported to be able to leave her hospital bed. She suffered a broken shoulder.

Mrs. Karns, a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, had lived in Ponca City for about 25 years, since coming here from Mound City, Missouri.

The Karns family was on the way to Mound City to spend Thanksgiving with Karns' brother when the accident occurred.
