Death Claims Retired Cities Service Worker
A retired Cities Service electrician, Albert W. Johnson of 936 East South Avenue, died Thursday afternoon in the Ponca City Hospital. He was 69.
Born June 3, 1902 at Vian, Okla. son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Johnson, he attended school at the Dwight Mission, Marble City, Okla., and later at Chilocco.
As a young man Johnson moved to Cushing and worked for the Empire Oil Company. He married Orma Pitzer on April 4, 1931 at Cushing.
In 1932 the couple moved to Ponca City and he was employed by Cities Service Oil Company for 35 years as an electrician in maintenance.
Johnson was a member of the First Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, and the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of Ponca Lodge 83, A.F. & A.M., Eastern Star and Boy Scouts. He was active in the junior baseball program here.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Albert S., 130 Hillside, Martin D. Quinlan, Texas, Raymond G., 1509 Richway, and John D., 1408 South Sixth; two brothers, Tom of Downey, Calif., and Martin, Van Nuys, Calif., four sisters, Mrs. Rachel Quinton, Vian, Marie Cornell of California, Elcy Freeman, Fullerton, Calif., and Nora Mae Edwards, Pico Rivera, Calif., and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Bill Masters, pastor, officiating. Graveside service will be conducted by Masonic Lodge 83 in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
The casket will not be opened at the service but friends may call at Grace Memorial Chapel until 8:15 a. m. Saturday.
