Cecil L. Jeffries, longtime Bressie Community and Ponca City resident, passed Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 85 years of age.

Cecil was born June 4, 1929 in the Bressie Community, the son of Fletcher Jeffries and Bertha Mae (Howell) Jeffries. He received his early education in the Bressie Tierney and Marland Schools. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. He married Joy Cook on June 15, 1950 and to this union six children born. In earlier years Cecil was engaged in farming in Osage County for 35 years and also had been employed with the City of Ponca City. He was a former member of the Marland Round-up Club and his enjoyments included coyote hunting, raising goats and in early years fishing.

He is survived by his five children, Keith Jeffries and wife Anita, Kirby Jeffries and wife Kay, Susan Wilson and husband Gary, Mike Jeffries and Pam Buerger; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judy Henshaw; his son-in-law Richard Buerger; and two sisters, Christine Wright and Maxine Wurtz.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Ponca City Assembly of God pastor Micah Wells presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
