Claude Burton Jones
January 28, 1947 - December 5, 2022

Claude Burton "Butch" Jones went to be with the Lord on December 5th with his loving nieces, nephew, and brother-in-law by his side.

He was born to Claude and Elva Jones on January 28th, 1947 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of their 3 children.

Butch grew up and attended school in Ponca City. He completed the 9th grade. He had a teacher ask him, "do you want to finish school or go fishing?" He stated, "that's when John and I left and went fishing." Fishing was his passion, whether on a boat or standing on the bank. He especially loved taking fishing trips with his life long friend, the late Byron Tribble.

He was a Vietnam veteran that started his service in the reserves then transferred to the army. He was in the service with his uncle, Ricky Jones. He received several medals: the bronze star, marksman m-14, national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, good conduct medal, Vietnam campaign medal, and one overseas bar.

Butch married the love of his life, Medra Burgess on July 30th 1969. He affectionately referred to her as his Indian Princess. They had two sons, Gilbert Bret born in 1971 and Philip Alan that passed away at birth in 1973.

He worked for his father at the family business, Burton Mattress . He was a very kind man that would do anything for anyone even if it meant putting himself in a bind.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Marie Jones, his wife Medra Jones, his sons Gilbert and Philip Jones, his sisters Connie Horne and Teresa Edwardson.

He is survived by his uncle Ricky (Connie) Jones, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Humanity Hospice for their excellent care.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery of Ponca City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
