Richard Lee "R.L."Hudson, longtime Ponca City resident, passed Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his home. He was 79 years of age.

Richard was born April 27, 1935 in Ponca City, the only child of Lee Hudson and Willie Alice (Houston) Hudson. He was a graduate of Ponca City High School.

Richard served his country in the United States Army, having served 2 tours of duty in Korea; 2 tours of duty in Germany; 3 tours in Turkey; and numerous stateside assignments that included Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served 251/2 years in the Army and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1980 at the rank of First Sergeant.

He was married to Unsu Hudson on October 6, 1980 in Korea.

Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter his whole life, competing in numerous fishing contests around the country with the hopes of being the world's best fisherman. His other enjoyments included helping wife Unsu in the garden.

He is survived by his wife, Unsu, of the home; four children, Richard Lee Hudson Jr. of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Robert Hudson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Roselynn Macias also of Lawton and Raylene Richardson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; first cousins, Nancy Smith of Ponca City, Joanna Purvis of Ponca City and Judy Brooks of Keller, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ponca City, with full military honors.
