Phylis M. Delaney, resident of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 61.

Phylis was born December 1, 1948 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter William Capes and Bessie Bernice Johnson Capes. She received her early education in the Anadarko, Oklahoma schools. She was married to Everett Louis Delaney on March 19, 2005 in Ponca City. Mr. Delaney preceded her in death on September 9, 2008.

At the time of her passing, Phylis had been employed as an Assistant Manager at Ponca Finance Incorporated. Her enjoyments included camping, fishing and traveling around in the company of her two children.

She is survived by her parents Walter and Bessie Capes of Waurika, Oklahoma two children, Philip Shearer and fiance, Ericka Pfiefer, and Jaquie Phillips and fiance, Eric Dye, all of Ponca City ten grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Shelby, Amber, Elizabeth, Philip Jr., Nikki, Breanne, Makaila and Daryen other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Renay Bridges.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Osage Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Hutchins presiding. Interment will follow in the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
