James W. Deel, 71, of Ponca City, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

James was born on June 16, 1943 in Holdenville, OK to Wilson and Lucille Bryer Deel. He grew up in the Holdenville area and graduated from Holdenville High School and then enlisted in the US Army. He graduated from OSU Okmulgee with a degree in engineering. He and Mary Mitchell were married on May 13, 1967 in Okmulgee. He had worked for Phillips in Bartlesville and Conoco in Ponca City, Dresser Engineering in Tulsa and most recently for Linde Process Plants in Tulsa. He enjoyed hunting and bowling. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brotherArthur King.

He is survived by his Wife Mary of the home, children Patricia Deel of Broken Arrow, James Deel of Sand springs, Sherri Bottger , of Ponca City, Sharon Deel of Ponca City, Thomas Deel and his wifeTrella of OKC, J.T. Deel of Ponca City, Corina Deel of Ponca City, Shianne Deel of Ponca City, and Braydon Deel of Ponca City. BrotherWilson Deel and his wife Lovonia of Fort Gibson, OK and sisterJulie Ann Sims and her husband Bill of Okmulgee. 10 grandchildren Dylan Bottger, Katie Bottger, Caleb Bottger, Ryan Deel, Andrew Deel, Matthew Deel, Brenda Deel, Victoria Deel, Josh Deel and Mitchell Deel.

Graveside services will be 2 pm, Thursday, October 9, 2014 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Ponca City with Rev. Dennis Wildman of the Burbank Baptist Church officiating.
