Services for Joseph Wade Bryer were held Wednesday, June 6, 2001 under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Burial followed in Ponca City IOOF under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Joseph Wade Bryer was one of two people to drown Saturday, 02 June 2001. He was swimming from the shoreline to the buoy line that was about 60 yards from Sandy Beach on Kaw Lake. It was about 12:45 p.m. , according to the Oklahoma Lake Patrol. He was about 10 feet from the line when he disappeared and his body was recovered about an hour later. Joseph was not wearing a flotation device, according to the patrol.
