Veda Maxine Bristow, 94, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 in Humble, TX.
Veda was born on August 15, 1918 in Willow Springs, MO to Robert Bruce and Zephae Mae (Keeler) Malcom.
She was a long time resident of Ponca City when she was very young until she moved to Humble, TX in 2008 to live with her daughter and son-in-law; Janet and Jerry Patton. Veda graduated from Ponca City High School in 1938 and then graduated from the Ponca City Beauty School in 1940. She owned and operated Veda’s Beauty Shop for several Veda graduated from Ponca City High School in 1938 and then graduated from the Ponca City Beauty School in 1940. She owned and operated Veda’s Beauty Shop for several years. Veda married Wayne Bristow on January 18, 1941 in Newkirk, OK and they had been married for 54 years at the time of his passing on July 23, 1995.
Besides her husband, Veda was preceded in death by her parents, sister-Pearl Vickers on December 31, 2011.
Veda is survived by her children and their spouses; Janet and Jerry Patton of Humble, TX, Joe and Gail Bristow of Stockbridge, GA, 5 grandchildren; Angie Patton and Scott Patton both of Tulsa, Laci Sawatzky and husband Fayne of Clinton, OK, Heather Franco and husband Pete of Springfield, AR and Brandi Davis of Hot Springs, AR. Niece Nancy Taylor and husband Gary of Ponca City and nephew Larry Vickers and wife Patty of Benbrook, TX.
A special appreciation and thank you goes to Kelli Glaser and the caregivers who helped with Veda’s care for 4 years before her move to Texas. Veda resided at Park Manor Nursing Home in Humble, TX for the last 4 years where she had excellent care and many friends.
Family will great friends from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Ponca City, OK.
