Toni Kaye ( Hawthorne) Baughman
August 5, 1951 - March 21, 2026
Ponca City, Oklahoma
Toni Kaye (Hawthorn) Baughman passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Via Christi Hospital in Ponca City.
Born on August 5, 1951, in Ponca City to Bill and Nancy Hawthorn. She attended Ponca City Public Schools. On June 11, 1973, she married the love of her life, Jack Baughman. They spent several years in various places following Jack’s work as a tradesman, with Colorado being their home base.
Following the births of their two sons, Corey and Jeff, Toni’s nurturing nature and her desire to be with her sons, led her to open a home daycare. After Jacks tragic passing in 1992, Toni and the boys moved to Fairfax, OK to be closer to family. There, she once again followed her love of caring for others where she worked at the Fairfax Hospital and Fairfax Manor Nursing Home for many years. After the birth of her first grandchild, Tristen, Toni opened her home for a daycare.
After her second grandson Taylor was born, she returned to Ponca City to be nearer to them (because a 30 minute drive was just too far away from her grand babies for her!) She spent the remainder of her years continuing her daycare and spending time with her family. She could often be found cheering from the sidelines during the boys sport games and school events.
She was an excellent cook and loved making food for her family. Toni had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her many houseplants and her garden.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Corey and Jeff, grandchildren Tristen, Taylor, Kayelynn, and Jackrey, and great grandchildren Oliver and Denver. One brother, Billy Hawthorn, best friend and sister-in-law Paula Graham, Linda Epperson and family. Nieces and nephews Kelly Roberts and family, Brandy Sisco and family, Billy Vandaveer and family, and Shawn and Jamie Epperson and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy and Bill Hawthorn, sisters Teresa, Julie, and Becky, nephew Randon, and husband Jack.
