JAMES STEPHEN ALEXANDER, 85, born September 27, 1924 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009. James was the son of the late Stephen James Alexander and Panayiota (Bertha) Pavlakos Alexander. He was a graduate of Ponca Military Academy and was stationed at Stuttgart, Germany during World War II as a member of the Air Force Reserve. Upon his return to Ponca City he became owner/operator of Alexander's Drive In on 14th Street for several years. He was a member of American Legion Post #14. James made friends everywhere he travelled, and he will always be remembered for his love of movies and sports, especially college football.

James was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George Alexander, and a sister, Georgia Alexander.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Alexander Angelos, of Houston, Texas; his niece and her husband, Margaret and Tommy Booras and their children of Bowling Green, Kentucky; numerous cousins and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2PM on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City with the Rev. Kenneth Armstrong, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Trout Funeral Home.

The family expresses its utmost appreciation to James' doctors and his caregivers, Sonya, Jeff and Chelsea Mathews, and Cassie Burtner.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Legion Post #14, Ponca City, Oklahoma, or the charity of your choice.
