Doyle Eugene "Gene" Labon, age 70, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away September 5, 2019 with his family by his side at his home in Ponca City.

Gene was born on January 11, 1949 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Mancel Doyle Rutherford and Katherine Marie (Hoskins) Labon. Gene grew up in Ponca City and worked the first part of his life as a welder and roofer and was very adept at working with wood. As life went on he took over the local cab service was the owner and operator together with Glenda of Gene's Cab Company.

Survivors include his wife Glenda, sons Jason Labon and his wife Joni, Kevin Collins, Ted Staggs, daughter Christi Ann Labon, grandchildren Michael Labon, Dylan Labon, Breanna Williamson, Nathan Staggs, Billy Taylor, Sierra Collins, Damon Collins, Lyrik Collins, Gabriel Simon, many more beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchild and absolute light of his life, Piper Staggs, his siblings Gordon Rutherford, Wanda Williams, Faye Rutherford and Harold Rutherford.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Mancel and Katherine, Anthony Collins, Shanna Labon, Renate Jenkins, Lonnie Staggs and his brother C. L. Rutherford.

Casket bearers will be Kevin Collins, Jason Labon, Derrick Collins, Damon Collins, Michael Labon, Nathan Staggs and Gabriel Simon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Go Fund Me account “Gene Labon Services Fund” or through Facebook at Herb Rains account and the “Herb’s Family Fund Raiser” which benefits the family.

Viewing will be at Trout Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8 from 2 PM to 8 PM and Monday, September 9 from 8 AM to 8 PM with family Meet-and-Greet from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Gene’s burial will be Tuesday September 10 in the Oak Grove section of Odd Fellows Cemetery with Pastors Lilly Freeman and long-time friend Herb Rains officiating. All are welcome to share their thoughts and prayers for Gene and Family.
