Irvin V. Sheik, age 84, resident of Ponca City, formerly of Newkirk, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 in Ponca City.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 12-8pm on Thursday, August 30th and from 8am-6pm with a Rosary Service to be held at 6:00pm Friday, August 31, 2018 in the chapel at Trout Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Deva Undralla officiating. Following the Mass, Irvin will be laid to rest at the Newkirk Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Irvin was born on May 26, 1934 to Raymond Sheik and Mary Farnick Sheik in rural Kay County outside Newkirk. He was raised in the Newkirk area. One fateful day, Irvin met Sandra Lucille Voegele. She became his wife on November 3, 1954 in Marine, IL. They returned to Newkirk where he worked for Benson Lumber. Later, he managed the COOP at Kildare before starting his career at Conoco where he worked in building maintenance, eventually retiring as a building supervisor. Irvin was an honest, hard working man who looked for the good in others. The Will Rogers quote "I never met a man that I didn't like" was one Irvin took to heart. He enjoyed tinkering with his Cushman Eagle scooters, tending to his garden, or spending time in his wood shop. When he wasn't working on his hobbies, Irvin relished traveling and taking in the beauty and history of North America. Lastly, Irving loved the oompa in music as he danced and played polka music as long as he was able. Through the years, Irvin was a man of strong faith and steadfastly attended and supported St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk and more recently St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City.

Survivors include his children: Melvin Sheik and wife Dianna of Bixby, OK, Bernard Sheik and wife Juliette of Silverdale, WA, Bernadette "Agena" Sheik of Denver, CO and Mark Sheik of Beggs, OK; companion Sandy Foreman of Ponca City, brother: Kenneth Sheik and wife Janet of Newkirk, grandchildren: Veronica, Jereme, Joshua, Tiffani, Sarah, Marcus, Matthew and Mitchel; great grandchildren: Tessa, Tristen, Abigail, Mallory, and Hunter.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Alfred, wives Sandra and JoAnn.
