Mrs. Scharmacher Dies at Newkirk

Newkirk – Mrs. Lola Edna Scharmacher, 60, died at 9 AM Thursday at her home here following a month's illness.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Stahl Funeral Service in charge.

Mrs.Scharmacher was born December 28, 1894, at Telephone, Texas. She later moved to Muskogee and in 1930, came to Kay County. She lived in the Kildare and Ponca City areas until 1943 when she moved to Newkirk. She was a member of the Nazarene Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Survivors are her husband, W. H.Scharmacher of the home; a son, George Scharmacher, Newkirk; four daughters, Mrs. Lois Gosting, Mrs. Wanda Denham and Mrs. Thelma Glidden, all of Newkirk, and Mrs. Elsie Osborne of Alaska; three sisters, Mrs. Quay Roundtree of Crowley, Texas; Mrs. Maude Henry, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Elsie Dreher, Kansas City, Kansas, and nine grandchildren.

Death Takes Newkirk Man

Newkirk – William H. Scharmacher, 72, died at his home here early this morning after an extended illness.

Services will be 2 PM Friday in the Chapel of Stahl Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Wayne Moore of Imperial Beach, California, and the Rev. C. L. Armstrong, Newkirk. Burial will be in Newkirk Cemetery.

Scharmacher was born December 8, 1884, at Bordenton, Texas. He and Lola Smith were married February 25, 1930. The couple lived at Muskogee following their marriage, later moving to the Kildare and Ponca City area. In 1943, they moved to Newkirk.

Survivors include a son, George of Wichita; four daughters, Mrs. Gosting, Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Wanda Benham, Newkirk, Mrs. Elsie Osborne, Juneau, Alaska, and Mrs. Thelma Glidden, Newkirk; three brothers, Fred of Waco, Texas, Otto of Wagoner and Ed of San Diego; a sister, Mrs. Percy Craig, Stuttgart, Arkansas, 13 grandchildren and two great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son.
