Newkirk Cemetery


August 26, 1889 - December 9, 1957

Mrs. Irene Hardy Law, 68, of 1115 West Highland, died Monday at 3:45 PM in the Ponca City hospital after a long illness.

She was born in Paris, France, on August 26, 1889 and became a talented and noted ballet dancer in her native country. She was known on the stage as Mademoiselle Irene Bartoz.

In 1912, she came to Oklahoma and made her home here with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. A. Heberson. In 1914 she was married to William Hardy and they made their home in the Newkirk community until his death in 1943.

On January 30, 1946, she married Dewey law at Houston, Texas. They established their home in Newkirk, moving to Ponca City in 1952. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Rosary will be recited in the Stahl Funeral Chapel in Newkirk at 8:30 PM today. Funeral services are set for 9 AM Wednesday in St. Francis Catholic Church there with the Rev. John Walch officiating. Burial will be in the Newkirk Cemetery. Mrs. Law is survived by her husband and eight step – children.
