Vester Joe Spore
June 26, 1943 - January 31, 2024

Vester Joe Spore, 80, beloved husband, father, and papa, was called to meet Jesus in heaven on January 31, 2024. He was born on June 26, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Vester and Veva Joe DeBard Spore.

Vester grew up in Newkirk, Oklahoma and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1961. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with an MBA in 1966. He married the love of his life, Mary Miller on June 28, 1963. After graduation, Vester went to work for Conoco where he successfully became Manager of Finance. During his career their family lived in Ponca City, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Houston, Texas where he traveled world-wide on company business and retired in 1994. After retirement, he spent his days roofing with his dad in the mornings and fishing in the afternoons. Vester was a member of Ponca City First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, was a deacon, and mentored many people. He was also involved with Gideons International.

Vester dearly loved God, country, and his family. In the last month of his life, he had the opportunity to share how a personal relationship with Jesus is the way to peace and forgiveness. Many people heard the story about the FROG which is an acronym for Fully Rely On God. He believed with all his heart God is in control and sovereign. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, woodworking, and teaching his grandkids to shoot.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vester & Veva Joe Spore, sister-in-law Debbie Spore, nephew John Spore, and in-laws Gerald & Minne Miller.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Spore, sons Todd Spore & wife Rachel of Fort Worth, TX, and Dr. Scott Spore & wife Tracee of Lubbock, TX, and daughter Marci Greenhagen & husband Travis of Bartlesville, OK, his grandchildren Josh Spore, Jessica Spore, Alexandria King, Antonio Piazza and Garland & husband Sean Watson, Chloee Spore, Kimber Spore, Seth Spore and Colton & wife Autumn Greenhagen, Kailyn Greenhagen, Makena Greenhagen, and a great grandson coming in April. Also survived by brothers Steve & wife Barbara Spore, Jay Spore, Kim & wife Debbie Spore, and sister Kay & husband Jerrold Dark, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, February 5th, graveside service at the Newkirk Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm at the Ponca City First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Taylor.
