Marvin Thompson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, February 17, 2015, in the Cedar Creek Living Center in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years.

Marvin Raymond Thompson was born on March 16, 1924, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Cecil Ray and Myrtle Ione (Northcutt) Thompson. He attended Deer Creek Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1942. He married Wilma Jean Fauchier on January 3, 1943. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring after fifty three years in 1999. He was a member of the Blackwell Coop, acting as a board member, Secretary and President. He worked as a custom combiner, traveling from Texas to North Dakota. He also worked as a substitute mail carrier and ran the star mail route for many years. He was active in the Nardin United Methodist church, teaching the adult Sunday school class and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He and Wilma enjoyed traveling to many destinations during the winter months in their fifth wheel. They also enjoyed playing bridge and many other card games with their friends.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Wilma J. Thompson of Norman, Oklahoma; one daughter, Judy Thompson Barnett and husband David Wayne of Comfort, Texas; one son, Jerald Thompson and wife Sherri of Norman, Oklahoma; one sister, Bertie Colwell of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Janice Maino and husband Robert of Ashland, Virginia, Shelli Hibbard and husband Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Amy Simpson and husband Lindy of Moore, Oklahoma, and Rhett Thompson and wife Debbie of Blanchard, Oklahoma; and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Alvena Grantz.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015, in the Nardin United Methodist Church, Nardin, Oklahoma, with Rev. David Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Army.

Casketbearers with be Rhett Thompson, Cassidy Maino, Promise Maino, Madison Maino, Mackenzie Thompson, Lee Hibbard and Lindy Simpson.

A memorial has been established with the Nardin United Methodist Church c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
