Virginia Lucille Smith passed away Friday, February 8, 2013. She was a lifelong member of the Nardin and Blackwell communities.

Lucille was born at the home of her grandparents (McKeehan) southwest of Braman, OK to Richard Charles Eakins and Dora Pearl (McKeehan) Eakins. The family moved to Nardin in 1926, where she resided her entire life. Lucille attended Nardin school where she was an outstanding basketball player and honor student, graduating from Blackwell High School in 1942 with honors. Upon graduating from high school she worked for five years at Black and Company Lumber.

Lucille and John R. (Jack) Smith were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church on November 17, 1946 and continued to worship there with their family. She was a devoted member and taught Sunday School. Her hobbies included sewing and flower gardening and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by daughters, Raye Ann Jones and husband Nik of Tulsa, Kaye Lynn Hatley and husband Fritz of Tulsa, Carol Jan Williams and husband Mike of Tulsa, and Sally Sue Riesenberg and David of Oklahoma City; sons, John Richard Smith and wife JoAnn of Blackwell and Scott Lane Smith and wife Lisa of Nardin; grandchildren, Kate, Carrie, Trevor and Kirk Jones, Troy and Vince Talley, John Scott, Brooke, and Jamie Williams, Kelly Collyar, Brittany, Jeffrey, John, and Cheyon Riesenberg, Ashley, Melissa, Megan, Owen, Jennifer, and Jake Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack R. Smith; her parents; a sister, Dorothy Eakins; a brother, Donald "Bud" Eakins; and grandchildren, Shay Ann Williams and Kristy Collyar.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13th in the Nardin United Methodist Church. The funeral is under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home of Blackwell. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Nardin.

Honorary casketbearers are Richard North, Larry Tripp, Larry Davis, Larry Shields, Harold Hall, Randy Paige and Joe Davis.

Casketbearers will be Kelly Collyar, Trevor Jones, Kirk Jones, John Riesenberg, Jeffrey Riesenberg, Cheyon Riesenberg, Vince Talley, Troy Talley, John Scott Williams, Owen Smith and Jake Smith.

Memorials may be made to Nardin United Methodist Church and Mt. Olive Cemetery in care of Roberts and Son Funeral home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
