Doris Gay (Seymour) Fitzgerald of Deer Creek, Oklahoma passed away on September 19, 2020.

Doris was born on May 19, 1929 at the family home that was 7 miles East and 1 mile South of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Her parents were Andrew Thomas “Tom” Seymour and Mary Ruth (Atkins) Seymour.

Doris attended school at Con. #3, later the Walker School. Her mother was also a teacher at the school. Doris attended high school in Pauls Valley and later graduated from East Central State College at Ada.

Doris is the descendent of a long line of ancestors. Her grandfather, Will Seymour was with the crew that surveyed the roads for the opening of the state to settlement in the 1870’s and 1880’s.

In 1951 Doris married Marvin Fitzgerald and moved to Deer Creek, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 2 children, Sheila Ann and Rick.

Doris was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Fitzgerald; and a sister, Iris Seymour.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Fitzgerald Ricke and husband Ron of Sharon, Kansas; a son, Dr. Rick Fitzgerald and wife Tess of Liberal, Kansas; two granddaughters, Samantha (Gabe) Ney of Manhattan, Kansas, Amanda (Brad) McCall of Boulder, Colorado; and two great-grandsons, Joe and Wyatt Ney of Manhattan, Kansas.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma with Lanny Job officiating. Masks will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Casket bearers will be Don Bachman, Roger Webster, Randy Logan, Ian Logan, Alex Hudsonpillar and Dink Hinman.
