January 25, 1934 - March 3, 2024

Shirley Jenell Brown, 90, of Ponca City, OK, died on March 3, 2024. Viewing will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2024, and Friday, March 8, 2024, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Bethesda Assembly of God, Blackwell, OK, with Rev. John West officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Nardin Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Shirley was born on January 25, 1934, in Porum Oklahoma. She attended Foster View County School, and grew up picking cotton. She spent time working with her mother in the garden. Throughout her life, she lived in Dumas, TX, Blackwell, OK, and Nardin, OK, before returning to Blackwell. She married Paul Edward Brown in 1950. Shirley worked in the cafeteria for the Blackwell School System, retiring in 1989. Shirley was a member of the Bethesda Assembly of God and enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to cook, sew, and made many quilts. Shirley loved life.

Shirley is survived by: children, Sharon Bass and her husband, Clyde, of Ponca City, OK, Joyce Romine of Ponca City, OK, Jody Scrimsher of Blackwell, OK, Hershel Brown and his wife, Kristie, Jerry Brown, and Debra Ramsey; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Ennis and her husband, Jerry, of Yukon, OK; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Paul Brown; grandchildren, Charlie Maxey, Mike McClellan and Bethany Kent; parents, Mary Ellen Potter and John Byrd; siblings, Arvid Bias, Edward Redding, Harold Redding, and Lee Redding.

Pallbearers will be Alex Brown, Lucas Brown, Dustin Brown, Mickey Redding, David Maxey and Carrie Denton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Pennington, Doug McCleary, Bob Tipton, Allen Sharp and Clyde Bass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Bethesda Assembly of God Nursery, 115 W Oklahoma Ave, Blackwell, OK 74631.
