Bette Mallory, longtime resident of Ponca City passed away Sunday July 10, 2016 in Ponca City She was 87 years of age. Bette was born on December 19, 1928 in Pawhuska, OK to David and Bessie Merrill Matheson. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 in the Ponca City Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dewayne Bardwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Longwood Cemetery under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK.

Bette attended the Ponca City School System and she graduated from Po High in 1948. On August 20, 1949 she married the love of her life Ira E. Mallory and last August celebrated their 66 years of Love. Bette was active in the Ponca City Assembly where she was the Organist and Pianist for numerous years she was also active in the Women's ministry with the Church. In 1992 she and Ira moved to Sun City, Arizona and they attended the Evangel Church where she co taught a Sunday School Class with her husband, Ira. She also was the church organist, a choir member and Women's ministry member. While she lived in Arizona Bette enjoyed writing and in 2008 she wrote a Novel ''Love Enough and Time''. Bette also enjoyed Painting and travelling extensively on their Motorcycle Touring as many states as possible and Canada. In 2013 Bette and Ira moved back to Ponca City and became members of Ponca City Assembly. She was also President of Local Tops Chapter.

Survivors include: husband; Ira of the Home; 2 sons; David Mallory and wife Jan and Steven Mallory and wife Vicki all of Ponca City; 1 brother: David Glenn Matheson of Palmdale, CA 1 sister Beverly R. Bragg of Harrison, AR. 6 grandchildren, 2 Step grandchildren, 3 Great grandchildren, 3 Great great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Son; Tim Mallory 1974 and 7 sisters.

Ira E. Mallory passed peacefully to Heaven at 11:45pm on December 24th at Alliance Health Center at the age of 89. Ira was the elder son of a set of identical twins born July 23, 1930 to Grace A. (Malone) Mallory and Ira M. Mallory in Ponca City Hospital.

In high school, Ira and his twin Earl, both played the clarinet in the PoHi Big Blue Band. After graduation on August 20, 1948, Ira married the love of his life, Bette C. Matheson at Harbor Light Temple in Ponca City. They enjoyed 67 years before Bette passed in 2016. To this union, three sons blessed the home, Ira David, Steven Michael, and Timothy Mark. Tim passed in 1974 at age 16.

The Mallory’s were members of the Assembly of God faith; Ira taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and played saxophone in the orchestra. He participated in sports including softball, racquetball, weight lifting, and running marathons. He owned motorcycles most of his adult life, traveling all over the U.S. and into Canada and Mexico.

He was indentured as an electrician apprentice in 1951 and became a journeyman for Braker Electric and Welborn Electric. He became the Business Manager for IBEW Local 444 in 1966 and served in that office until retirement in 1990. After retirement Ira and Bette moved to Sun City, Arizona where they remained until 2014 due to ill health. While in Arizona, he played and coached softball and bowling teams. He also served as an usher in the Arizona Diamondback home games.

He is survived by sons, David and Steve, both of Ponca City, daughter-in-law Vickie (Steve) Mallory, five grandsons, two granddaughters, and several great grandchildren.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bette, son Tim, and numerous aunts and uncles.

A Graveside Service will be held in Ira’s honor at 2pm on Friday, December 27, at the Longwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
