Rita Mary Anderson, resident of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Nathan Adelson Hospice West in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 80.

Rita was born the daughter of James Flynn and Mabel Stanton Flynn on August 30, 1928 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Rita married George Anderson, the love of her life on June 24, 1950 in New Jersey. The couple made their home in New Jersey, California and Oklahoma. To this union two children were born.

Rita belonged to the Catholic Church and she enjoyed gardening and sewing. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Anderson-White and husband, Drew of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughter, Kara Decker of Las Vegas, Nevada and grandson, James Decker of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George in 2005; son, James George Anderson in 1989; and sister, Barbara Steinberg.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Dick Robinson presiding.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Longwood Cemetery with Father John Michalicka. Burial will follow in the Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
