Frances Lynette (Johnston) Sewell
March 7, 1947 - November 30, 2024

Mass of Christian Burial for Lynette Sewell, 77, Ponca City resident, will be 11:00 am on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Longwood Cemetery under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Lynette was born on March 7th, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Thomas Busey and Frances Lynette Banko Johnston, and passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2024 in Wellington, Kansas. She was raised in early years in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Lynette graduated from McAlester High School with the class of 1965. She married her high school sweetheart Steven Edward Sewell, at St. John the Evangelist Church in McAlester, Oklahoma on July 8th, 1967. She graduated with honors from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education. Lynette was recognized for her service as a Special Education Teacher and Special Olympics Coach of the students at Willard Elementary School in Ada, Oklahoma. She was awarded Teacher of the Day by the Ada Masonic Lodge and served on the Board of Governors for the Student Council for Exceptional Children.

In her younger years, Lynette enjoyed horseback riding, ballet en pointe, cheerleading and was an avid student of classical music. She was a den leader of the Boy Scouts of America, taught Sunday school and often played piano and sang in church. After retirement her greatest joy was spending time with her four grandchildren where she was known as the Hippie Momma MeMe.

Survived by son Jason and Angela Sewell, daughter Sarah Sewell, and daughter Melissa and Michael Meeker. Grandchildren Lorelei and Locklan Sewell, Sydney and Kynsley Meeker. Brother Thomas and Jane Johnston, Sister Debbie Rodden, Sister Nancy Owens. Nephews Todd Johnston, Garrett and Jayne Johnston, Gabriel and Gini Renfrow, and nieces Amanda Renfrow, Terra and Nick Merle and several grand nephews and nieces.

Preceded in death by husband Steven Sewell, parents Thomas and Lynette Johnston and Brother William (Tank) Johnston.
