Joanne Ruth Burries
April 4, 1933 - October 20, 2023
Joanne "Jody" Burries passed away Friday October 20, 2023. She was 90 years of age. Jody was born on April 4, 1933 in Ponca City, OK to Ray and Marie Hedrick. She married George "Carl" Burries on August 9, 1951 and they had three children, Carla Bodenstein, Jerry Burries and Scott Burries. Jody was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church.
Jody was a homemaker always but was also proud of the time she spent working at the Cowboy Supply Store. She was on the board of Longwood Cemetery for many years as well. Carl and Jody took many trips to watch Ray and Marie's horses on the racetracks across the country. Jody had many hobbies she loved including league bowling, tending to her flowers, sewing, playing cards and the time spent camping in South Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Prado, husband Carl Burries, and granddaughter Krista Burries Stierwalt.
She is survived by one daughter Carla Bodenstein and husband H.D, sons Jerry Burries and wife Monica, and Scott Burries and wife Kathy. Grandchildren Chad Bodenstein and wife Michele, Kortney Wehunt and husband Britton, Brooke Stanton and husband Sean, Kacey Goodno and husband Cory, as well as 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Trout Funeral Home, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601 on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be at Faith Tabernacle, 501 S. 5th Street, Ponca City, OK 74601 on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Longwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
