David (Dave) Stevens, longtime Ponca City resident passed away Friday October 11, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK with his family by his side. He was 72 years of age. Dave was born in Ponca City, OK to Gene and Glendola Stevens. Dave grew up in Kaw City and he graduated in 1966. He married Sherry Boone on January 27, 1967.

Dave served in the United States Army from 1967-1970. He served during the Vietnam War Conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Dave and Sherry settled in Ponca City in 1970 and he worked for the City of Ponca City. Upon retirement Dave was the superintendent of the OMPA power plant.

He loved to tournament fish, waterski, spend time with family plus attend sporting events of his kids and grandkids. Dave always had a smile on his face and a way to make you laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: wife, Sherry of the home; one son, Brad Stevens of OKC, one daughter, Tara Tennant and husband Chris of Houston, TX, four grandsons, Cameron Stevens, Colton Stevens, Dray Tennant, Asher Tennant and two great granddaughters Angel Stevens and Aubree Stevens; one brother John Stevens of Kaw City and one sister Diana Wise of Kaw City.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019 at Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday at Grace Memorial Chapel from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family in attendance from 5p.m. to 6 p.m. to receive friends and relatives.
