Kaw City - Joe W. Muir, Kaw City resident for 10 years, died unexpectedly Thursday of a heart attack at his home. He was 64.

Muir had been in good health until Tuesday when he first suffered a heart attack.

He was born in March, 1886, at Seneca, Missouri. He worked for 18 years in the oil fields in this vicinity before coming to Kaw City in 1940.

He is survived by a son, Joe Norman Muir of El Reno; three daughters, Mrs. Harry Hammer of Dewey, Mrs. Fern Pope of Spearman, Texas, and Mrs. Ruby Meier of Scott City, Kansas; a step daughter, Mrs. Florence Tool; one brother, Al Muir of Harrison, Arkansas, and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Whitlock Sons Funeral Home in charge.
