Joy Patton
March 28, 1956 - October 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce "Joy" Lynn Patton, who departed this life on October 11, 2025, at the age of 69.

Joy was born on March, 28th 1956, in Bunker, Missouri, to James Chitwood and Carlene (Sewell) Chitwood. She grew up with her brothers Wilburn and Ray, who she went on to look after their entire lives, becoming a pillar of stability and reliability for her family. Joy worked at Wee Too for many years while going to school for her certified nurse assistant license, which after obtaining, worked at Bass Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. Eventually, Joy retired from her hospital career and became a professional caregiver for her brother. She married the love of her life, Scott Patton, on July 22, 1994, and together they raised their daughter Amanda. Joy was known for her talent in baking, gardening,and crafting, specifically quilting and painting, her faith, and her commitment to culture and community. Joy lived a life marked by love, kindness, and unwavering resilience. She was known for her sharp humor, her sassy comebacks, and her refusal to take nonsense from anyone - qualities that made her both beloved and unforgettable.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; her daughter Amanda; her grandchildren: Sierra and Hailey; her son-in-law and granddaughter-in-law: Kevin and Savannah; her dog, Sawyer "Soy Sauce," as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Joy was preceded in death by her parents James and Carlene; siblings Wilburn, Ray, Darlen, and William; and loved aunts and uncles.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, with the family from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601. A funeral service will follow on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Life Outreach, 748 Grandview, Kaw City, OK 74641. Those unable to attend the Funeral Ceremony, may attend virtually on the Trout Funeral Home website, www.troutfuneralhome.com and click on the live-stream or toolbar icon on the top right corner after 1:45 PM. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.

Though we mourn her loss deeply, we take comfort in the countless memories we shared and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
