BLACKWELL — Funeral service for David Lynn Quillin, 70, of Blackwell, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Lamont United Methodist Church, with Pastor Vera Walton officiating. Committal prayers and interment followed in Braman Cemetery under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Silver Tallon Honor Guard.

David was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Blackwell the son of Melvin Cleo and Barbara Heizer Quillin and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his residence.

He lived on a farm northwest of Blackwell for three to four years before moving to Salt Fork, Okla., where his dad was employed as the elevator manager.

David attended Lamont schools, where he graduated third in his class, lettered in three sports and excelled in music. He received seven first place state awards and medals in solo and group music.

David continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he had four majors in business. He was a member of the OU Marching Band, member and officer of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Reserve Officer Training Corps, and other campus activities and memberships.

David’s military duty in the United States Air Force, Oklahoma National Guard, was as a pilot. He flew in both high-performance and transport aircraft.

David married Betty Joan Fullagar in Gainesville, Texas, on July 13, 1974.

He spent 30 years working for General Motors in 11 different locations. Later, he farmed for 17 years.

David was a member of Lamont United Methodist Church, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

David is survived by his wife, Betty of the residence; parents, Barbara and Cleo Quillin; sons, Michael Douglas and wife Keri Quillin, and Gregory Duane and wife Julie Quillin; grandchildren, Morgan Adrianna, Madison Avery, Brody Cole, Kyla Anne, Aryn, Zac and Tina Dean; in-laws, Brad and Shirley Ellis, Larry and Ann Walker and Leonard and Randy Fullagar.

David was preceded in passing by Sherry Marie Dean, stepdaughter; Duane Leon Quillin, brother; and Joseph and Inez Quillin and Herbert and Eunice Heizer, grandparents.

The family has selected Lion’s Boys Ranch, Lamont United Methodist Church or Image Healthcare as appropriate for memorial donations with Stittsworth’s coordinating.
