John Albert “Jack” Orr Jr. formerly of Braman, Oklahoma, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas, at the age of 94 years.

John Albert “Jack” Orr Jr. was born on April 9, 1921, in Blackwell to John Albert and Mabel C. (Hume) Orr. He grew up near Braman and attended Braman Public Schools. Following his education he continued in the family farming operation in Kay County. He married Lavina Grace Hunter on November 14, 1941, in Newkirk and they settled on a farm near South Haven, Kansas. In 1968 they moved to a farm east of Braman and continued farming until his retirement. His wife preceded him in death on November 13, 1983, and he continued living on the farm. He later moved to Sedan, Kansas, to be near family. He enjoyed the many pets he cared for throughout his life.

He is survived by a son, Leroy Orr of Sedan, Kansas; a daughter, Claudine Parks of Green Valley, Arizona; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 20th in the Braman Cemetery with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
