Franklin Almo Hartman
Services for Franklin Almo Hartman, 97, killed in the Wednesday night tornado at his home, 521 E. McKinley, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Bert Sutton officiating.
Mr. Hartman, a retired farmer, was born Jan. 1, 1858, in DeKalb county, Alabama. He moved to Kay county in the fall of 1894.
Burial will be in the Braman Cemetery under the direction of Roberts & Sons.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Hartman, Newkirk, Mrs Ed Woodruff of Blackwell, Mrs. G.H. Lambdin and Mrs. Leslie Dickason of Wichita; three sons, Charles Hartman of Blackwell, W.C. Hartman, Orlando, and Frank Hartman of Moundridge, Kans.; a half-sister, Mrs. Link Farrar of Mountain View, Mo.; a half-brother, Zeno Hartman of Kansas City; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

OBITUARY
Franklin Almo Hartman, son of Eleano and Martha Jane Hartman, was born in DeKalb county, Alabama, Jan. 1, 1858, and departed this life at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 1955 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Woodruff, at the age of 97 years, 4 months, and 25 days.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Shelton Oct. 7, 1883. To this union was born nine children, three sons and six daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters, Martha and Mrs. Emma Myers.
He was one of the pioneers who came to Oklahoma at the opening of the Cherokee Strip and with his family settled on a farm near Braman.
For several years he was rural mail carrier from Lillyvale post office northeast of Braman to Newkirk.
Survivors are four daughters, Mary of Newkirk, Mrs. Minnie Woodruff of Blackwell, Mrs. Bessie Lambdin and Mrs. Hazel Dickason, both of Wichita, Kans.; three sons, Charles of Blackwell, Bill of Orlando and Frank of Moundridge, Kans.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Farrar, a brother, Zeno of Kansas City, Mo., and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Charles Petrie, Clarence Hampton, John Bradley, Cavitt Tompkins, Clarence Hood and Keith Farrar.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 30, in the First Christian church in Blackwell with Rev. Bert Sutton officiating. Burial was in the Braman Cemetery under the direction of Roberts and Sons funeral service.
