Harold Ellsworth Wooderson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away late Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 75 years.

Harold Ellsworth Wooderson was born on August 30, 1940, in Blackwell to Lawrence Eugene and Laura Juanita (Smith) Wooderson. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School in 1958. Following his education he began his farming business and on September 3, 1959, he married Mary Ellen Knisley in Blackwell and they settled on a farm northwest of town. They later moved to Peckham and in November of 1974 they moved to their current farm northwest of Blackwell and he continued his farming and ranching operation until the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on both the Blackwell and Peckham School Boards. Other service includes Past President of the Kay County and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Board of Directors for the Federal Land Bank and Home National Bank, member of the Elks Lodge, Outstanding Young Farmer of Oklahoma, Outstanding Conservation District Cooperator for Oklahoma of the year, and working on the Agricultural Dean’s Advisory Board for Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed O.S.U. athletics, fishing and gardening, especially growing sweet corn and turnips. His love was his family and attending the grandkids many activities.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Wooderson of Blackwell; two sons, Max Wooderson and wife Gina of Blackwell and Bruce Wooderson and wife Tamela of Blackwell; two daughters, Marcia Lott and husband Mark of Newkirk and Brenda Wooderson of Blackwell; a brother, Dale Wooderson and wife Eva of Blackwell; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Naomi Lucas; and three brothers, Verle Wooderson and Merle and Max who both died at birth.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23rd in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Cap McIlnay officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandsons, Brett Fruits, Derrick Darling, Cody Darling, Grady Wooderson, Blaine Wooderson and Guy Wooderson.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
