Eileen Rosalee Walcher, age 94, died in Seiling Oklahoma Hospital on 29 July 2011.

Eileen was born to Milford Milligan Brock and Lydia “Mae” Giffin Brock on March 4, 1917 in La Harpe, Allen County, Kansas. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where her father was employed at the Blackwell Zinc Company until the time of his death in 1936.

She received her education at Blackwell Schools, graduating with the Blackwell High School in 1935. Eileen married Edwin Allen Walcher on January 4, 1935 in Perry, Oklahoma, and made Blackwell their home. They were married 59 years. Mr. Walcher preceded her in death on November 6, 1994.

Eileen was employed by Montgomery Ward and for many years owned Eileen’s Draperies along with her husband. She was a charter member of the Blackwell Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, serving in many offices including President. After her husband’s death, she was a very active member of her church, overseeing the renovation of the church kitchen. In 2001 she moved to Woodward to be near her son, Ernie and her daughter, JoAnn.

Survivors are her children, Barbara Fulton of Bartlesville; Ernie Walcher of Woodward; JoAnn Bilyeu of Woodward; and Janice Cole of Norman; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Her husband, parents, brother, Clair Brock and sister, Lois Muir preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the 1st Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eric Dittman officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. Roberts and Son Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers will be Rocky Walcher, Kenneth Fulton, Teddy Cole, Martin Bilyeu, Paul Casto, Larry Moss, Gary Smith, and Steve Blyze.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church, c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, OK 74631.
